Interview with Mr. Bäumler | Sales Director
From construction steel labelling to a leading supplier to the steel industry, exports have been and continue to be a mainstay of S+P Samson's success.
Brazil plays an important role here. Brazilian steel companies are leading the way internationally in the digitalization of logistics using RFID. In close cooperation with global market leaders in tube and wire production, labelling solutions have been introduced that enable automatic registration of truck loads during shipping.
Mr. Bäumler, how was your trip to Brazil this time?
Well, it was our second trip this year. What's striking is that this time we had more meeting commitments than we could fulfil in the two weeks. Due to the distances involved, it is rarely possible to have more than two meetings a day. In total, there were 13 flights in 14 days. The important thing is that, once again, there were a number of interested parties and new contacts. All in all, a good mix of appointments.
Have you noticed a change in contacts over time?
The need for advice is increasing. Discussions are often more in-depth in terms of material technology and applications. The interest in RFID technology remains high. From one visit to the next, you naturally have a better basis for discussions - in other words, positive examples of applications and from other appointments. This is an incentive for the clients to be interested in talking to you..
How does the cooperation with the local colleagues work?
Milton, who has been a local account manager for many years, is now 79 and travelling is becoming increasingly tiring for him. There have been two interviews with potential candidates to find a successor. The aim is to finalise the handover in 2023 so that we can continue to work on expanding the customer base in Brazil.
