Avoiding media discontinuity: The dispatch label as a data carrier
In many businesses today, thick stacks of paper still make their way through the production hall alongside the goods. This paper-based system slows down processes. With a multifunctional dispatch label from S+P Samson, the traditional picking slip in the warehouse is now a thing of the past. All relevant material and customer data is printed directly onto the film – exactly the same as the information on the old accompanying document. Using the order number as a barcode or QR code, every single material item can be easily scanned, allocated and posted directly into the ERP system. Paperless picking thus becomes a reality in day-to-day operations.
The label performs several tasks simultaneously as the material moves through the production line:
- It serves as both a dispatch label and a picking slip in a single product.
- It accompanies the goods as a consignment note at all processing stations, such as sawing, deburring or packaging.
- It ensures error-free allocation at every intermediate stage with a quick scan.
Further development for practical use: GRAPHIPLAST® 9480
To make handling in the workshop even easier, we have specifically further developed the tried-and-tested GRAPHIPLAST® 9480. It was important to us to incorporate feedback from the workshops directly into the product design. The result is a smart combined solution:
The product is designed as a flag label with an adhesive-free zone. This provides the ideal grip for staff who work in the workshop wearing thick gloves. The actual adhesive area has been deliberately kept small, yet offers extremely strong adhesion to ensure the label remains securely fixed to the rough material. A major advantage in the workflow: the label can be flexibly reused. Staff can peel it off, process the component and then simply reapply the film.
Smooth processes from goods receipt to the customer
Thanks to this flexibility, the label reliably tracks every item of material throughout the entire supply chain – from goods receipt through the various processing stages in production right through to final dispatch to the customer.
Gone are the days when accompanying documents went missing or creases rendered the barcode unreadable. GRAPHIPLAST® 9480 is the direct answer to the question of how modern businesses can simplify their internal logistics processes. Let’s explore together how we can eliminate the traditional picking slip from your production process as well.
