Maximum adhesion meets absolute process reliability
Pressure-sensitive adhesives are characterised by their desired flowability, a property which can quickly lead to problems with label rolls and high-performance systems in the form of adhesive bleeding. This often causes the label rolls to stick together, contaminates the printer and ultimately leads to malfunctions in automated processing.
From idea to patentable invention
For many years, S+P Samson has used a special adhesive application process to create effective adhesive areas. The challenge was to transfer this precision to continuous labels to eliminate the risk of sticking.
The solution that emerged from a discussion about the machine was as simple as it was ingenious: a label with a narrow border around the edge that is free of adhesive. This was made possible by the innovative technique of intermittent adhesive application, which allows the adhesive areas to be configured with great flexibility.
SecuBond®: added security and flexibility
Two years after the idea was conceived, the SecuBond® continuous label has become a patented process and a revolutionary solution.
- No adhesive leakage:
The adhesive-free zone guarantees clean application and prevents printers and machines from becoming contaminated.
- Safe processing:
The label adheres strongly to the product without ever sticking, whether on the roll, in the laser printer or during machine application.
- Flexibility and handling:
The adhesive field can be configured as required, for example to create a practical tab that makes it easier to remove the label from the backing material and handle it manually.
As one customer commented, “This is the best invention since labels were invented. A real advantage in handling and automation.'
Here at S+P Samson, we are delighted that our innovative strength has been officially recognised by the granting of the SecuBond® patent.
