Interview: Valerie Brix on her career start News | People | 18.02.2026

Exams passed, future firmly in sight.

She is a newly qualified industrial clerk, right in the thick of global shipping. Valerie Brix has successfully completed her training with us and has joined the Logistics and Export team. We seized the opportunity to sit down with her for a brief discussion about her time as a trainee and her new responsibilities at S+P Samson.

Valerie, first of all, congratulations! When did you realise that logistics and export was the right place for you?
When I was able to handle an export order on my own for the first time. I realised then how many steps, coordination and details were involved, and how important it was to have a good overview. It was precisely this combination of organisation, responsibility, and international relevance that showed me that logistics and export were exactly right for me.

Export processing in an industry like ours can be quite complex. What particularly appeals to you about the challenge of shipping goods worldwide?
I find the variety of export processing particularly appealing. No two orders are the same, and each destination country has different requirements. Knowing where the goods are going, which routes make sense and which regulations apply is also important, as is geographical knowledge. It is this combination of planning, knowledge and global thinking that makes the job so exciting for me.

Looking back on your time as a trainee, what advice would you give to new trainees at S+P Samson?
I would advise new trainees at S+P Samson to be open-minded and curious, and to ask questions whenever they need to. If you show initiative and get actively involved, you can learn an incredible amount here.

Thank you very much for the interview. We wish you a great start to your career.
